Chicago public schools poised to cancel classes as teachers vote to go on strike

Students in Chicago public schools will have classes canceled Wednesday if a vote by the city’s teachers union to work remotely is finalized, city education officials said Tuesday.The Chicago teachers union had been threatening to go on strike for several days amid a dispute with city officials, including Mayor Lori Lightfoot, over what they see as insufficient COVID-19 protocols.NEW SEMESTER BRINGS SCHOOL CLOSINGS AND ANGRY TEACHERS UNIONSIn a Tuesday vote, the union’s house of delegates voted 555-77 in favor of moving to remote instruction, CBS Chicago reported.
