Another 2026 DV Lottery winner has been issued a visa at the Nairobi Embassy and will be celebrating Christmas in the snow this year in America.
A family of three husband, wife, and their little baby had their interview scheduled for 8:30 am. They arrived at the embassy early at 5:30 am, got through the gates by 6:10 am, cleared the first and second security checks, received their ticket numbers, and waited for their turn.
They were first called to Counter 10 for document verification and then to the cashier counter. After that, they stepped outside until it was time for the main interview. Eventually, they were called to Counter 6, where their consular officer a friendly gentleman of Somali origin conducted the interview.
These were the questions asked:
1. What year did you finish high school?
2. What did you score in your KCSE?
3. What did you do after KCSE?
4. Why did you choose to pursue the course you studied?
5. When did you apply for the DV Lottery?
6. How and when did you meet your spouse?
7. When was your wedding?
8. Have you ever been arrested?
9. Have you ever had trouble with the police?
10. Where are you going to stay in America?
11. Which career do you plan to pursue in America?
12. Have you ever applied for any other visa?
13. The spouse was asked: Have you ever applied for any visa?
14. What is your relationship with your host?
15. Are you excited?
After the short and friendly interview, the officer smiled and said the words every selectee longs to hear:
“Your visa has been approved.”
NB: Form I-134, tax returns, and the host’s certificate of naturalization were returned during document verification. The family had already done their pre-screening, and all documents were in the yellow envelope.
Another dream unlocked. Another journey beginning. America is ready for them.

BIG CONGS TO THE FAMILY.
