One of our core values is:
We Fight For Immigrants. Every Day.
It seems simple, but there is a lot of meaning behind it.It means that even if there is an emergency on a Saturday, we will help.Even if the case is difficult, we will help.No matter what country you're from, what language you speak, your gender, or your sexual orientation. We will help.Every day.And that is what we live by.In 2020, Clerepatra contacted us with an issue. Her I-130 case was stuck.Clerepatra and her wife, Avery, had not heard from USCIS in almost a year. They filed the I-130 petition in November of 2018, had an interview in June of 2019, and then never heard anything. They tried to get information on their case by calling the 1-800 number and contacting their local representative. But nothing worked.USCIS didn't want to approve their case. But they also had no justifiable reason to deny it.So they kept it pending.Clerepatra and Avery turned to us for help. And we sued USCIS and the Department of Homeland Security. We filed a writ of mandamus lawsuit, asking a judge to decide their case. Like magic, their case was seeing movement.USCIS scheduled a second interview and asked for more marriage evidence, including affidavits from family and friends about their relationship. On October 1st, Clerepatra and Avery attended their second interview at USCIS.And once again, they did not get any information on if the case was approved or denied after the interview. But on October 10th, Clerepatra received her green card in the mail!Clerepatra became a permanent resident after almost two years of waiting. This is what it means to fight for immigrants.Every day.
